Iris Nebula

Iris Nebula

Wide-field view of a region of the Cepheus molecular complex centered on the reflection nebula NGC 7023.

This main structure is surrounded by an extensive network of dust clouds and diffuse nebulosity, including in particular LBN 483 and LBN 468, as well as several dark nebulae from the Lynds catalogue (LDN 1170 through LDN 1174).

The image also includes several notable neighboring structures such as LBN 475, LBN 487, and LBN 495, along with the ionized region Sh2-136, revealing a complex environment where interstellar dust and diffuse gas are intertwined across large spatial scales.
